About the Role
Rickenbacker Woods Foundation is seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to serve as Day Camp Counselors for our 2025 STEAM-based Summer Adventure Camp. This exciting seasonal role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about working with youth and creating a safe, hands-on, and inspiring environment for campers in grades 3–5.
Camp themes include aviation, robotics, animation, arts, local history, and biomedical science—all rooted in Ohio’s legacy of invention and innovation. Counselors will guide students through daily activities, field trips, and social-emotional learning sessions designed to build confidence, creativity, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities
- Arrive on time and maintain consistent attendance
- Lead and participate actively in daily STEAM and enrichment activities
- Support daily site setup, meal service, and clean-up
- Follow camp lesson plans and safety protocols
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment for all youth
- Supervise campers during indoor activities, outdoor play, and offsite field trips
- Maintain a safe, organized camp environment
- Communicate regularly with camp leadership and, when necessary, with parents
- Serve as a role model, mentor, and source of encouragement for campers
- Attend and support the end-of-program family showcase and special events
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience with children in camps, schools, childcare, or similar settings strongly preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- High energy, patience, creativity, and a genuine love of working with kids
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and participate in moderate physical activity
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and participate in activities throughout the day
- Travel with campers on field trips using group transportation (bus or van)
